Hello, my name is Rod Biresch and I’ve been engineering/developing software for over 25 years designing and developing software solutions for clients in a broad range of business domains. My focus is on mobile application development primarily in native Android. In 2017, I joined the Raywenderlich.com team (now Kodeco) writing Android tutorials. I do have another blog (soatechlab.blogspot.com) that is focused on Integration and Service-Oriented Architecture however, I no longer contribute to it.
Interests
I have many, here are a few:
- Hardware and microprocessors – I use to work for The Western Design Center in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. My uncle William ‘Bill’ Mensch is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of the company. I left WDC in 1993 however, I’m still involved with company and the 65xx brand embedded microprocessor PCB, ASIC and/or FPGA product development. In 2015, I re-joined WDC as an Advisory Board Member for Software Engineering.
- Cars – My interest in cars started back in the 1980’s when I was a teenager. At that time, I had many friends and relatives that had some sort of car that they worked on and modified. I’ve had many cars over the years, most notable are a 1972 Dodge Charger SE (first car), 1969 Pontiac Firebird, 1963 Ford Falcon, 1965 Oldsmobile 442, 2004 Corvette Coupe,2003 Corvette Z06, 1966 Mustang GT (factory HiPo) and my current car a 2004 BMW M3…and many other in between.
- Golf – I’m an avid golfer who’s always up for playing a round of golf. I started playing in 1989 and took my first lesson in 2012. Since then I’ve been focused on improving my game with much success.
- In late 2016, I had some vacation time to burn so I decided to create the Wolf Golf Scorecard Android app. It was out of necessity because we kept messing up the score trying to track it on the scorecard. If you like the game “Wolf” then I’m fairly sure you’ll like the app.
